Rabbits = Crappy = FOS ?

haha. FOS (full of shit) that's how ah bao described rabbits when I told her that I once came across this program that mentioned rabbits eating their own shit. ya, so we concluded that maybe I do like crappy stuff, like take for an example. she came up with the reasoning that she's quite crappy too if she can come up with this FOS rabbit thingy. sooooo cute. LOL. well crappy or not, I think as long as it tickles ur funny bone it's fine. that's how I like her too & everyone else that i do like. haha. they're either cute or funny in their own sense, as perceived by moi.

Karaoke @ 7.30am on a Monday Morning.

yeeeessssss... my lovely fantastic simply considerate neighbour starts her karaoke session @ 7.30am in the morning. even the birds do not sing that early at times over here (-.-) while I like the occasional karaoke sessions we have @ Kbox or partyworld, I do not like the fact that this lady here blasts her system that loud. She's staying 2 floors above me & yet I can hear her singing damn loud & clear. Plus, she loves to repeat the songs that she sings, as if she's practising for some singing talentime. Her singing? Well, it's not exactly horrendous but u know the old-style of singing songs back in the 70s or 80s? Where they drag the notes, do the echo sound thingy just to show that they have a superbly strong voice. Ya, that's what I get to hear all the time when she starts her karaoke singing. Zzzzz.

Ham & Cheese Omelette.

it's been a quiet Saturday so far. not much disturbance for the day, which is good considering that I want to rest & maybe it'll make the gums stop aching. I decided to be a little more adventurous today & tried my hand @ cooking my 1st ham & cheese omelette! haha. got some leftover black pepper ham the other day & was considering just frying it with egg, my usual scrambled style. well, I alys try to tell myself it's an omelette but it mostly comes out fried into bits n pieces. ham pieces, egg pieces, both not melded together like how they're supposed to in a proper omelette. LOL

which is why I consider this attempt my 1st one cos I actually did some minor research on it. went to get cheese to add to the omelette & also some milk to enhance the taste & texture. plus I think it kinda came out quuuuuite alrite, for a 1st proper attempt & considering the fact that I've not been much of a cook. am trying to cook more now, so that I'll have more variations in my food choices in the event that I do live alone in the future. my omelette looks 2/10 but I think it tastes about 6/10 ? ya it tastes fairly decent, my seasoning was fine, maybe I needa cut down on the amount of ingredients that I add in. the reason why it did not turn out betta, i think was cos it was too thick. ya the omelette was too fat in the middle & I had difficulty folding it. haha. ok actually, I used a small frying pan to fry it, figured it will be easier if the pan was slightly broader & I cld not find the spatula. I had to use 2 spoons together to cook & then flip the omelette. LOL

the omelette which tastes betta than it looks.
ya, I admit it was just too greedy of me to try adding that much stuff into a small pan. LOL. Cooking like this, once in awhile, experimenting stuff is quite therapeutic. Just like how I find doing up my nails is therapeutic too. all my gel extensions & overlays have been taken off, my nails are back to how they look like as before altho they're much thinner & some of the nailbeds are kinda damaged, like the nails got cut too deep in & there seems to be more space for the whites of the nails now than before? I see less of the pinkish part of me nails. Sad. getting the gel extensions @ batam was quite a bad call, I should have just gotten gel overlays which I believe wld not have been as damaging. I'll consider getting the gel overlays again, for festive occasions like Xmas & CNY. lasts longer & it's definitely more durable when I needa do my household chores.

May Need Teether?

I had actually planned on blogging about yesterday's (Fri 24/9) stuff later on today but since I am not able to sleep despite trying various means to do so, I shall blog then. As of now, I still feel somewhat like a teething toddler. I also feel as if I'm made handicap by the dull ache in my mouth. Yeeeeeeoooouuuuch. Tasukete.... Taking a painkiller didn't help much. I dun think I'd mind if someone just like gave me a knock on the head now to make me pass out. I'm tired but the ache is keeping me awake. Zzzzzz.

Ok, so I met Wennie for lunch @ tampines one ytd. We went to Manpuku, the jap food hall place for our nosh. Ordered a stone bowl curry chicken rice, a plate of gyozas & a pork okonomiyaki (okos) to share between us. Personally, I like the rice & okos while the gyozas just tasted like those general jap ones u can get from the supermarket? They weren't half bad but just not as tasty as the other 2 aforementioned dishes.

Curry Chicken Rice in Stone Bowl

The so-so Gyozas.

Pork Okos (my favourite!)
the grey portion in the middle of the backgrd is the sky @ 3.15pm on Fri (24/9)
after lunch, Wennie and I decided to venture to the other side where there's Century Sq & Tampines Mall I think. when we were walking towards that side, we got quite amused at how dark grey the afternoon sky was. LOL. ok I'm using my handfone cam, so pls pardon the poor pic quality plus I'm not a photography person so pardon the lack of foto-taking skills too. applies to all my pics. hahahahaha.

Jacko then met us after her training, we all went back to hougang for dinner. Jac brot from Malaysia the slippers that some other relatives have ordered. I thot they looked funny & kinda cheery all bagged up what with all the mambo jumbo of colours. hehe.

Lelong Lelong~ Slippers for sale~
I think I will try to stay home for this weekend. Kinda feels like I'm slightly under the weather. Hopefully, I wun dream yet again when I do fall asleep later. Given a choice, I'll rather not dream at all when I sleep. At least I wun feel bewildered or irritated.

Sweet Poh-tay-toh Soup!!

it's my 1st try at making the sweet potato soup! haha. got some help from empress but it was more or less quite straightforward. add the potatoes, a few slices of ginger & pandan leaves 1st. bring to all these to boil with about half a pot of water? then add dried longan & gula melaka to taste. it kinda reminds me of the ginger tea we had after the batam massage. haha

speaking of which, i think i can make do with 2 hours of massage now. my arms & legs ache like there's no tomorrow. thanks to my pushups & air-cycling. yup, i started air-cycling too. figured that since im gonna do smth abt me arms, then maybe touch on the legs too. if not later buay balance how? LOLLL.

gonna be out this Sat evening! yayness. hmmm wat should i wear? maybe a lightweight dress, then it wun feel too warm. think i'll go get my brows done tmr too, messy messy brows. zaaaaah.

ching-chong tam~

nah, I did not come up with the chinese lines. these are excerpts from a song & movie that i found rings true. (I meant the words)

Happy Lanterns' (Mid-Autumn) Festival!!

pretty lanterns ~
yes yes... are you all enjoying the mooncakes or have already devoured them? walked around the neighbourhood watching or appreciating the kids' lanterns? i always got the round rainbow or moon-shaped lanterns & they always burn up, yes the whole lantern will go up in flames and burn out in the midst of my walk - every. year. I dun quite fancy mooncakes, that includes the well-loved snowskin ones. those pastries sweets just dun interest me any bit. empress would also get me a whole box of sparklers to play with, gotta share with Jacko. Jac!!! are u enjoying the fireworks and celebrations over at JB? hehe.

empress got back early today & we had an early dinner. i then suggested we should go walk walk after dinner, was kinda surprised she took the suggestion up. when she did ask me to prepare to go out, i asked if she was gonna bring me go "take lantern" and that i mentioned i dun have a lantern. her response? a (-_-) look. LOLL

we went to city sq mall for our walk, got some groceries, snacks & gong-cha bubbletea. yesssss!!!! i have not drank gong-cha for the longest of time. got my usual signature black tea with milk & ordered a new flavor for the emp, strawberry au lait. the strawberry drink tasted somewhat similar to a strawberry-flavored version of vitagen. haha. not too bad. the colour reminds me of the pink-coloured bitter antibiotics med that i had to take when i was sick.

signature black tea w milk & strawberry au lait, both from Gong-Cha. *slurps*

Puffs. Holiday?

the empress bot back the new OCK (old chang kee) puffs to try, 2 new flavors: green curry & BBQ. both are zomgilicious!!! chockful of chicken meat, potatoes n carrots with very tasty flavorings. yum yum yum~

the green curry flavored puff reminds me of thailand, esp bangkok. its a holiday destination that i like alot. the food is cheap & good, the locals are generally quite friendly, the shopping is quite reasonable, interesting & fun. i even like the sound of their lilting language! haha. ok maybe not so much lilting but it just sounds quite pleasing to the ears, in a singsong manner u know? LOL. too bad no one to accompany me there, the empress & couzzies do not dare to venture to bkk for now cos of the messy political scene over there. miss those times when we would go over to thailand at least once a year, bkk being the most frequented state of all. *sighs*

Super Cui.

nope, not referring to anyone else but myself. esp with regards to working out. zzzz. yuppers, the AML tried working out today. did 3 sets of 20 pushups, boy am i glad i dun need to serve the nation. the 1st set of pushups almost killed me, considering i have not done anything similar or close to pushups since sec sch? not gonna help that it was the girlly type of pushups that i tried out (-.-) nonetheless!! i managed to do 2 more sets amounting to a total of 60 pushups, not bad lah huh?? for someone who's not into regularly working out. lol

i also went for brisk walk after the pushups, altho that wasnt much of a distance. maybe about 0.5km? hahaha. i just wanted to start out & see if i will keep to this working out or not. hopefully, i'll be consistent abt it. *crosses fingers & really hopes so*

exercising does really make one feel betta huh? my mood is lighter & i kinda like the stretch/ strain that i feel in my arms after the pushups. LOL. it tells me that at least i did start on it :D

Gone?

im a natural monolidder, that is i was born with single eyelid on both sides of my eyes. there was once i had some sorta eye infection on my left eye and it caused my lid on that side of the eye to swell up. the swelling did not subside till a few days later. when the swell went away, i was left with double eyelids on the left eye but my right eye remained untouched. (my guess is the swell for those few days sorta stretched my left eyelid too much n when it subsided, the over-stretched skin folded to form the double eyelids)

ya so for a period of time i felt unbalanced, lopsided with a double eyelids on one side and a single one on the other side of my eye. until a week or more ago, when my sleeping pattern got altered and i kinda cried myself to sleep for a few nights too. the right eye with the single lid, turned into a double eyelid too. wow.... double lids without having to go under the knife!! the bliss was shortlived cos just ytd, my single lid fought its way back, the crease on my eyelid disappeared n my single eyelid look popped back.

hello lopsided unbalanced mel. *sobs*

Warm Sunday.

I was hoping it'll rain for a short spell today but nope my wish did not come true & it just remained bright, sunny & of cos undoubtedly, unfortunately very warm. I do no deal well with very humid weather. it triggers my eczema almost instantly. i guess it doesnt help that we had to attend a family function @ a chalet today.

by default, i generally dislike having to attend functions held in a chalet. cos it's normally very warm over there, crowded & extremely noisy. this one din turn out too bad, we managed to get seats in the living room of the chalet apt which was air-conditioned. oh ya, it is the chalet @ aranda country club, just next to downtown east.

before the family function, empress & I met wennie for lunch @ PS, we went to crystal jade & had a satisfying midday meal :) we then shopped for awhile, i managed to get a new top & a new pair of heels!! yayness. bot eachacup drinks with breadtalk buns & went to hougang to rest for abit b4 heading to the chalet. the breadtalk stuff only costed $1.10!! no we did not just get one bun & anyway most of their buns are like more than $1.30 each if im not wrong. we bot about 6 items. haha ok lah, wennie had this $10 breadtalk voucher & we used it to redeem the buns. amounted to &11.10 & with the $10 voucher, we only needed to pay just $1.10 in the end :D

the 6 breadtalk items! haha.

Cut Down!!!!

ya i needa cut down my intake of fried food, oily stuff, heaty makan and...... (do i really have to do it?) my sweet drinks :( i think cutting down on those food stuff isnt that huge a problem, at least not as daunting a task as cutting down on my sweet drinks. *sobs* why the cutdown? my skin condition lah!!! getting from cui to cui-er plus its healthier to cut down on such stuff anyway. oh well.... i'll abstain from deep fried food from now on 1st n see if it helps.

if not i can try turning vegan >.< altho thats near impossible LOL had onigiri for dinner just now. YUMS. i heart onigiri that can be bot from those express sushi counters, cheap n good IMO keke. oh ya the mention of onigiri reminds me of the fact that i needa go some supermarket that has quite a good range of jap groceries. i wanna try out making the jap tofu salad. gotta get miso paste, white sesame & ponzu sauce. the miso paste will come in handy when i wanna make other stuff too, like i think it can double up as a soup base? miso soup with fresh white mushrooms, carrots, onions, potatoes n maybe can throw in some slices of chicken breast. hmm..... if i do try it out, will blog abt the outcome (and whether i may get food poisoning after eating my own cooked food or not) hahaha. i guess can go liang court, theres the meidi-ya if i really cannot find all the other stuff in the regular supermarkets.

the neck aches.... think i strained it whilst sleeping last nite? zzzzz

Random Day.

wow... apparently its random-people-contact-melissa day today (fri, 17/9). i got like 2 unknown numbers & 2 known ones (which are alrd in saved under my hp contacts) sms-ing me stuff like "hi, how have u been?" or along the lines of "so when u free to catch up?"

im surprised that some of them actually still bother to even sms me, i dun think i replied their previous smses which was like eons ago. other than this bit, my friday was relatively quiet. went out for abit in the evening n have been home since midnite.

to ju-on's bro: sankiews. it did made me feel slightly betta :)

Day Out With The Couzzies.

met Jac, Alice & Wennie for lunch @ geylang, after lunch we went to buy mooncakes for mid-autumn festival (personally i like to term it as lantern festival, haha) guess wat? we bot 18 boxes of traditional teochew mooncakes & the likes which amounted to about 250 bucks!! haha. this festival also quite ex ah? lucky i dun fancy mooncakes much.

we then trooped to E-Hub @ downtown east cos we din have anywhere else in mind to go, there was nth much over there too altho that place brot back some memories. hmmm.... had a drink @ kopi alley there before going over to changi village. why changi village? haha

Jac mentioned wanting to check out the Changi Village Hotel, seems quite a relaxing, laidback place. i guess the overall changi village shops etc contributed to that whole hweeling too. we actually managed to spend abt 90 bucks buying dinner, dessert & some dresses n skirts. haha. who'd have anticipated spending such a sum over at CV, certainly not us. LOL

for makan we had nasi lemak, nasi briyani. the nasi lemak was quite yummeh but the dessert was the one which stole the show. ZOMG!!! we bot a small choc cake for dessert. it was an unexpected good find. the cake shop's name is Chocolate Origin. 28 bucks for a small whole cake, worth every cent! *thumbs n big toes up!*

the choc cake!! looks nondescript but i tell u its damn scrumptious!!

the simple cake box but i think it looks quite cool :)

Haircut.

so i finally decided to go trim my hair length after almost 10 months of not doing anything to it, save for the occasional fringe trim. The last time i trimmed the overall length of my hair was when i went to straighten it in beginning of Dec 09. wow.... i think my hair grew abt... 5 inches since then? not too sure lah, just aggar the length. LOL
(nope, no pics to show. i think i will only post random pics now & then, of other people n stuff but definitely not so much of myself. esp since i dun exactly love taking my own pics haha)

empress had her hair done up too, she went for a trim n also to colour the grey hairs. after her hair was done, it looked as if she shaved off 5 yrs of her age! she looks good!! *thumbs up*

then we met cousin wennie for dinner, went ichiban @ hougang mall. 3 of us ordered 2 set meals n a couple of sides to share. wooots! it was a satisfying meal enjoyed with 2 of my favourite ladies. :)

F(A)ML

ssssssplendid. i think i really have no flair at all in frying pre-cooked food. there was the frozen spicy nuggets the other time, which caused me food poisoning. now its frozen cod fish fillets.
ya, so we did buy a new toaster oven but have yet to start using it. i wanted to use it for my fish fillets but when i opened the packet, the 4 slices of fish were all frozen together. now, how was i to toast 4 slices of fish which was stuck together in one big chunk at the same time? i tried to separate them but to no avail. the only option i cld think of was to fry them instead.

they. turned. out. burnt.

yup, i charred the fish fillets. not the whole chunk but half of it. one side of the chunk was completely black, the other side was brown. i figured i can eat the brown side (which i did. let's hope i dun get another bad bout of food poisoning again).
the prob now is that the entire flat, including empress' bedroom, has the burnt/charred smell. im so gonna get skinned by her when she gets back from work later. FML

as for makan places that i wanna go, there are places which i have been to or never before. for those that i have tried out before, i wanna re-visit cos i like the food there but nowadays it seems as if there are lesser n lesser people whom i can find to go with.

herros~ *waves to imaginary readers*

yes yes, im back again!!! i think i will try once again to revive this blog of mine. not gonna promise that i will update it religiously but will drop by from time to time to leave random stuff/thots in here.

Tickling Slow Loris.

so, came across this youtube link & it reminds me of someone i know who is very sensitive to tickling. this slow loris is surprisingly cute huh? the way it raises it's arms so willingly to be "tickled", i'd think it actually likes being caressed. LOL

on another note, i maybe left with one extra ticket for Voyage De La Vie. maybe i should just tell my aunt that im not going anymore then save her the trouble of having to help me get it. *sighs*
